Class Schedule
8-40-9:00
Students arrive, hang up personal items in the hall. They must bring into the room their home folders from their bags. Students will use the smartboard to mark attendance, gather breakfast if they use it, Meet on the carpet for Morning meeting activiites and directions for morning work/objectives. (Morning meeting can inlcude a song, game, expectation review, jobs, weather, calender, counting practice etc)
9:00-9:30
Science/SS/Guidance
Students start the day with an exciting lesson in science or social studies. In Science we learn about weather, plants, senses and other interesting topics. In social studies we learn about how people lived long ago, how communities change, community helpers and government. Once every two weeks we have a specialized Character Education lesson with Mrs. Harrigan!
9:30-11:00 Math
Start with Math fact practice. First addition and then subtraction. These are facts you can also practice at home :)
Whole Group Mini Lesson: During this time students will be learning a skill that matches our math unit. We explore the task, learn how to do it, try it, explain it, then they can try it again on their own.
Independant: Students work on math skills while the teacher meets with students to re-teach, practice, or step up the skill level.

Open with Mini-lesson Lucy, Independant reading on skill learned, while students are reading, teacher is grouping or conferencing based on needs (mid lesson mini talk)
Shared Reading
Options of sharing thoughts, sharing favorite parts, demonstrating skills learned that day, read to peers
Word Study
Review word wall words, talk about any phonemic awareness needed,practice spellingl. Meet in groups
2:05-2:20 Recess
2:20-3:20 English Language Arts
Writers Workshop
Open with lesson, break out into independant writing to practice, teacher grouping or conferencing, mid workshop lesson, wrap up meeting with sharing.
practicing letter formation and penmanship. Use and practice spelling strategies.
Interactive Writing
Wrap up the day with teacher/student pen story writing about what we did (learned) that day focusing on sentence structure, spelling, verb, adj etc.

Wrap up meeting, review Homework, pack up, dismissal after announcements
